TRAINING WITH FRIENDS: BUILDING A FITNESS COMMUNITY
Training with friends could create the best or worst session ever. You can either choose to focus and go hard or chill, chat and fool around. Either way, you still get to spend time with those you like, love or care about. In the sport of bodybuilding and fitness, in general, many tend to neglect the immense benefits of belonging to a fitness community. The reasons for this naïve approach to the sport varies from one individual to the next, but let us not forget the fact that “we can only go far together.”
In the above post workout picture, the founder of Fit Mensa is standing with two hardworking and dedicated friends, Elias and Amir. They had just finished a grueling arms workout which involved three bicep exercises and three triceps exercises which included supersets, drop sets and backoff sets. They had so much fun pushing and competing against each other throughout the workout till there was nothing “left in the tank.”
What was the purpose of this collaboration?
Although many people might think it was just about having fun, competing against each other, or motivating one another, the true purpose of this workout session was to build a fitness community. The saying goes “our environment shapes us and our knowledge limits us” which means those you surround yourself with play a huge role in your daily reality and the amount of information you have will determine your accomplishments.
